Temporary exhibition on 3 floors / temporary exhibition Spheres (levels 3, 4 & 5)

>>> 25.04.2012 - 02.09.2012

Water for all …and all for water!

Water to drink, to cook, to do the laundry, to wash yourself and to wash the dishes, it seems so obvious! But will water always be available? Will it always be drinkable? Will there ever be a war for water?  Water as expensive as fuel, is that possible? What is the water situation in the rest of the world? So many questions this exhibition tries to give an insight in and sometimes an answer.
In the West nothing seems so easy and natural as opening the tap to get water.
But this seemingly simple gesture is not within everyone’s reach. More than 1.2 billion people have no access to potable water. A strange paradox because we know that the 10 million 10km3 fresh water on our planet is in theory sufficient to meet the needs of all inhabitants.
But how do we divide this vital source?
That is exactly where this exhibition tries to give an insight and sometimes an answer. Witnesses from around the world tell how water (or the lack of it) has changed their lives. The visitors can also let their voices be heard in this important debate. During an interactive trail we are confronted with our own responsibility, how do we save and share this source?
