The Expo 58 in miniature

>>>01.05.2010 - 16.05.2010

Expo 58 provided the background for an architectural project which was as ambitious as it was spectacular. Most of these buildings no longer exist, and those that do have generally been converted depending on their new purpose.

The presentation of thirty or so of these pavilions, recreated on a smaller scale by the University of Ghent, guarantees a fun, informative experience for young and old alike.

Be Welcome

>>>22.05.2010 - 31.08.2010

The Atomium will present BE.WELCOME in collaboration with the Museum of Europe From May 22nd till August 31st, 2010. An exhibition about the migration track in Belgium. After Bipolar and AFRICA. Fast forward the Atomium opens an exhibition with a new social theme for its Belgian and foreign visitors.

This initiative, proposed within the scope of the Belgian EU Presidency, will give us a new look at the migration phenomenon. The route, mapped out as a “quest for papers” will offer the visitors an interactive approach about this social fact. Thanks to the museological expertise and scientific knowledge of the Museum of Europe, testimonies will be put on the forefront. Both the positions, of the migrant and the host country, will be examined.

Intersections . Belgian Design

>>> 06.09.2010 - 14.11.2010

As part of its annual exhibition dedicated to design and the 2010 Design September, the Atomium will showcase the careers of three young Belgian designers: Jean-François d’Or, Nicolas Destino, Linde Hermans. The exhibition will look at the evolution of their designs (furniture, textiles etc.) from school through to the current day.
